When I sew onesies, I use adhesive spray on the stabilizer and hoop just the stabilizer. Then I turn the outfit wrong side out!  It makes like a little nest around the needle. So far I haven't messed one up!! Have fun!!

How do you keep the onesie from getting in the way of the needle and staying in perfect position for the embroidery?  clips?

I need to know this as well.  I have racked my brain trying to figure out how to put the onesie on the hoop to where it will be out of the way of the other material getting in!!!   PLEASE HELP!!

Thank you for your suggestion. However, I am confused; if it is wrong side out....how does the design come out on the right side?

Even though your project is inside out, you still sew on the right side.

It is difficult to explain, hope this photo helps.

    Hello.

Pat's photo shows exactly what "Inside Out" looks like.  It is like a nest.  Onesies are a lightweight knit fabrication.  They will have to be secure on your hoop in order for them not to shift.  A mesh stabilizer would be recommended for baby's items.  With mesh stabilizer, the items stay soft; especially needed when next to baby's skin.  For some reason, I also place a Water Soluble Stabilizer on top of the onesie.  To me, it just seems to work out better.

If you feel intimidated by this method for the first time, another way to embroider the onesie is to have a design on the rear; basically where the baby's bottom will hit.  Especially cute for the "crawling crowd".  With this method, you will get the feel of the fabric, etc.

You sew on the right side of the onesies, but you make like a nest around your needle. Lay the onesie right side towards your needle on the stablizer that is hooped. (Like you would anything that you are going to sew) But it is to small to lay flat so turn it up around your needle like a nest. That 's where I get about turning it wrong side out. The wrong side it facing you but the right side is towards the needle. You have to be careful when sewing it. You can't leave it or anything. I've had good luck with sewing them this way. You can also put designs on the backs of the onesies. This is where I put a lot of my designs. I hope this helps!! Good Luck!
