My Excel Spreadsheet is in the "update shop."

You can see it when I debut it with my new "Business Creator" so watch for it!

In the meantime, check out my latest blog for some good information.

I also have an Excel Spreadsheet.  Would like to know how you calculate the price to charge.  Thanks so much.  Barb

Alright, you can also add me to your list of "want the Excel spreadsheet".  I have started an embroidery business also, I have been doing this for about two years and love it.  I still work full time at my real job so time is short when I get to my embroidery.  Having a spreadsheet that would calculate the cost/price to charge would be terrific.  I know nothing about Excel!  I have been charging by the hoop I use.

    Thanks for all your help.

For those of you who can't find Pat's spreadsheet . . .  It may look like it's not on her post . . . when I look at her forum post, her spreadsheet is a box with a red X is in it. Just click on the X & you'll get access to the spreadsheet to either save or open.

    Hope this helps!

I am interested in your Excel spreadsheet for pricing ME.  I have done several projects for people, but never know how much I should charge.

    Thank you in advance,

    Pat,

If you put the following formula in cell C42 you will be able to use a 0% mark up.

    =IF(C28>0,((C38/C41*C28)*(2.5)),((C38/C41)*(2.5)))

The formula basically says if c28 is >0 then use your previous formula(C38/C41*C28)*(2.5), otherwise use else use this new formula )),((C38/C41)*(2.5))) which does not take into consideration the number in C28 (which would be any number less than or equal to 0)  This prevents the multiplying by 0 error you were getting.

    Pat,

I am going a little crazy here. I feel like I am the only one who can't open this file. I downloaded the zip file on your excel sheet but I cannot get it to open. I do not have excel. I went into Cnet and downloaded a program which will enable me to view excel sheets. I tried again to open it, but no luck. I have been doing hats and shirts for my husbands R/C flying club and would love to know that I am in the right ballpark when pricing. Right now I am figuring $1.00 for every 1000 stitches and adding it to the price of the hat or shirt. I am so afraid that if I ask too much it will discourage buying, but I don't want to underestimate my work here.

Re: How much to charge for designs

Your $1 per 1000 stitches is probably quite fair.

Did you get to the point of unzipping the file?  If not, Cnet probably has a zip software for your use.

After the unzip is complete, I cannot think of a reason why it would not open.  What is the error message you are getting?  Copy it down using the exact wording.  That helps to point to a possible solution.

I was able to e-mail the zip to my brother and he converted it to Works for me. I found a free program to install for the future.

    Thanks, Nancy
