For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed sewing and making “stuff and things”. My mother was a talented seamstress and I just followed along. When I first read of the Pe-Design software I was fascinated by the idea that one could take a drawing or graphic and turn it into an embroidery design. At that time I didn’t know how to turn a computer on! I bought my software as soon as it hit the market and as I couldn’t always figure how to achieve what I wanted, I sometimes became very frustrated. However, I was already a member of the BBD newsgroup and their help was invaluable to me. I recently ran across a hand written scrap of paper that read, “Ann Cobb said she is going to have a website where we can share designs.” The note was handwritten because I didn’t yet know how to cut and paste on the computer! Anyway, I was thrilled! There were no free designs in the pes format then and we did not have the tools to enable us to convert from other formats. Although my knowledge was limited, I soon began to contribute designs. As I worked on each design for hours, I wanted to share with others rather than stitch out my own designs just once or twice. AnnTheGran’s site has grown to encompass a wealth of information and over 5,000 free designs and I’m proud to have been among her first contributors. |
